Dear Editor – I refer to an article on the front page of Issue No. 6318 dated Thursday 30th June, 2016 –“ PM: FEAR NOT – Sogavare tells the nation to trust armed aops”.
This good news for the nation came out to the public just four days following the death of my dear son, late David Morton Sireheti Saemala (23), who died in the safety hands of the Central Police Station Watch House Cell on the morning of Monday 27th June, 2016. Re: Brief report by Police PPC to Mrs F. Saemala on arrival from Auki on the same day (27/06/16).
As a mother who is under trauma and fear of the death of my son, I can speak out for myself and illiterate mothers of Malaita that I am not convinced by the statement by the Prime Minister to the Nation – to trust armed cops, in fact now very fearful.
I had visited the site where my son was arrested on Friday 24th June, 2016 and advised mothers of young boys who are seen in that location everyday to please warn their sons of activities that are involved illegally.
I know it is very difficult to advise our sons because of the peer group, but the death of my son urges all mothers to start doing something to bring their sons home because their lives may be at risk.
Inhumane and unethical treatment by Police
The unidentified body was seen by a close relative (female) driven by police officers in a vehicle identified as police truck. The unidentified body was placed in a two-body bags (zipped) and left outside on the bed at the entrance of the morgue.
Later on during the day my brothers (2) heard rumours that my son David had died and laid in the morgue at the Central Hospital. They rushed to identify the body and confirmed the person as my son David.
To question why the body was not handed to a doctor at the Emergency for proper examination and certification of the death, and the question why the body was left outside the morgue without the knowledge of the morgue manager must be satisfied and answered by the police authority.
Finally, I am satisfied that the Almighty Creator God who sees everything happened to my son David, will bring judgment to those unknown people.
The blood of my son had reached his Creator God like Abel (Genesis 4:8; Matthew 23: 35; Luke 11:51, 1 John 3:12) – “The first murder was especially monstrous because it was committed with deliberate deceit”. Numbers 32:23 – But be sure your sin will find you out.
I want justice for David Morton Sireheti Saemala!!
Fay Saemala
