BEING labelled King of Futsal in Oceania, veteran coach Dickson Kadau vows to defend the title in junior category in the upcoming (OFC) U17 Futsal Qualifiers in New Zealand.
Kadau says the senior Kurukuru squad have stamped their mark by winning the OFC futsal title five times.
The U17 are currently undergoing intensive training in preparation for the OFC U17 Futsal Qualifiers set for New Zealand October this year.
“My aim is for the team to go forward and win the Qualifiers to defend our status in futsal,’’ he said.
He said he strongly believed the U17 players have been through proper futsal development programs compared to what the senior Kurukuru players went through since futsal was first introduced in the country.
He therefore called for public support in their preparation.
“I just want to ask the country, supporters and futsal fans to support the team because I believe the team will qualify for the 2018 Youth Olympics.”
The U17 squad will represent Solomon Islands at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) U17 Futsal Qualifiers in New Zealand.
The champion team will represent the Oceania region at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
