Vivian Saru’s late goal in the second half of the National U16 Women’s Championship match has saved Real Kakamora from the jaws of defeat in the hands of a determined Solomon Warriors.
It was a nail-biting match that ended in a one all draw at the SIFF Academy, Tuesday.
Warriors took the lead from Bethy Siwanimae’s goal in the 21st minutes before both teams went for a break.
Warriors regrouped in the second half and bombarded their opponent again but poor finishing and good goal keeping from Kakamora’s goal keeper has denied them to extend their lead.
However a brilliant free kick from Saru outside her challenger’s 18 yard box was too strong for Warriors goal keeper has leveled the score before full time.
Real Kakaomora coach Noel Wagapu told Star Sport after the match that it was a great battle for his girls, adding the result was also a big boost for the team to have against top team like Solomon Warriors.
“I would like to congratulate my girls for their hard work in achieving this result.
“We have seen our weaknesses and strengthens and opportunities that we can work on in preparation for the upcoming league.”
Wagapu also thanked Solomon Warriors for the tough battle.
Meanwhile match will continue today with Guadalcanal taking on Hana at 1:30 pm followed by Koloale and Marist at 3pm and KOSSA up against Malaita Kingz at 4:30 pm.
