Comptroller of Customs and Excise Division Nathan Kama has reiterated his call to the public to report any form of demand imposed by Customs officer in exchange for the execution of their mandated duties.
Mr Kama made the call in respond to reports alleging that some customs officers have demanded payment charges from owners of goods requiring clearance by Customs and Excise Division.
Mr Kama said, such incidences demanding payment as commission by customs officers were never reported to him.
Mr Kama said, in view of that he was not aware of such corrupt practises entertained by his officers.
He said any suspicious matter of that nature must be reported to his office so that the rightful authority could deal with the case.
“I’m not aware of the alleged corrupt practices by my officers but I want people to report to me if they know incidences of such nature so that we can deal with those responsible,” he said.
