Members of the Solomon Islands (Jindokai) Karate Federation (SIKF) are being urged to resume their training sessions as soon as possible.
President of the SIKF Junior Siosi Tafoa made the call in light of an upcoming international event they will be attending this year.
“All SIKF national team members are asked to resume training as we have Oceania Championship to prepare for later this year,’’ he said.
Siosi said they are also welcoming new students who are willing to take up karate as a sport.
“Our weekly training sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday commencing at 4:45 to 6pm at Epalle School’s Hall.
“Those who wish to join karate are most welcome to come to our training days and join us in training,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Karate has over the past years produced some of the Solomon Islands top athletes and medallists in the past two Pacific Games.
Recently they achieved outstanding results at the 3rd World Goju Ryu Karate Championship in Auckland, New Zealand, winning Solomon Islands’ first ever silver and bronze at the World Championship.
