THE famous KHY Buni Tree area is now restricted as the Provincial Disaster Committee plans towards erecting a fence around the area.
The Provincial Disaster Committee (PDC) acting chairman Patrick Toiraena told Solomon Star Gizo that the KHY Buni Tree area will be fenced as soon as the provincial works team returns to Gizo from Honiara.
The KHY Buni Tree area is used by betel-nut and food vendors.
Mr Toiraena, who is also the Western Province deputy provincial secretary, said this means all betel-nut vendors and food vendors will need to be relocated to the Banana Valley Satellite Market.
He said construction of the fence will start this week.
“So my advice for all vendors at KHY Buni Tree is that starting this week, you will have to relocate to the required site which is the Banana Valley Market.
“The KHY Buni Tree area will be fenced up anytime from this week and into next week,” Mr Toiraena said.
He said the KHY area will be reserved by the Western Provincial Government for future businesses and developments.
Solomon Star understands that a case on the ownership of the KHY Buni Tree area is still before the High Court.
Most of the prime sites in Gizo are owned by the provincial government.
