HUNDREDS of children in Malaita Province received Christmas gifts from the Samaritan’s Purse weeks before the 2024 Christmas.
The gifts, which were shipped directly from overseas, arrived in Malaita late last year and were distributed successfully to children through their local churches.
This marks the first time such programme to reached rural children in Malaita Province.
Solomon Star witnessed the presentation of the gifts to children along the Kwaiafa River in Ward 3 of the West Kwara’ae Constituency.
The smiles on the faces of children, ranging from ages 2 to 14, were evident as they received their presents.
Marylyn Dauara from Sasale village, who received her gift from the McGilvray family in the United States through Samaritan’s Purse, expressed her joy after receiving the present at Buiano Village.
She thanked the McGilvray family for their thoughtful Christmas gift.
“Thank you for giving me this wonderful Christmas gift,” she said.
Franklin Jodan also from Sasale village, who received a gift from the Shoebox Project through Samaritan’s Purse, also thanked those who donated it.
His mother Tracy Dauara said she was delighted to see her son receive such a wonderful gift and expressed her gratitude to Samaritan’s Purse for making the programme available to her children.
Samaritan’s Purse is an international non-denominational evangelical Christian disaster relief organisation headquartered in the United States. It provides both spiritual and physical aid to people in need worldwide.
Since its founding in 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped those affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine, all with the goal of sharing God’s Love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
The organisation serves the global Church to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is understood children from other region in Malaita also recieved similar gifts from Samaritan’s Purse.
