THE Honiara City KidsGames is on again and will run for two weeks.
It was officially opened yesterday at the Lawson Tama field with the theme, “Go for Goal, Go for Gold.”
The event will involve competitive sporting = and fun activities for the kids.
Director of Scripture Union Solomon Islands Nathan Mautai said that the programme will go on for two weeks starting Monday next week.
“Today is just the official opening and because of the public holiday (Queens Birthday) tomorrow, activities will commence next week,” Mr Mautai said.
“This is the second time round we hold this event since the first one last year,” he said.
He said that there will be competitive sporting activities as well as fun activities to be organised for the kids.
Children of age 6 to 14 years old are encouraged to participates, he said.
He added the programme will involve Sunday school kids from all denominations, pathfinder groups, and schools scripture unions.
This is a sporting and biblical event, he stated.
“The purpose of hosting this as a sporting and biblical event is to engage kids and teach them biblical values through sports.
“Because through sports children will come to know each other and build Christian values and relationship amongst them,” he said.
He said that the two venues for the sporting activities are Multi-purpose Hall and the SIFF academy field.
“If we want our kids to be better citizens of this country, now is the time we should engage them in good activities and build them biblical values through such activities,” Mr Mautai stated.
The activities will run from June 16 to 27.
