MORE staff quarters at Kilu’ufi hospital, Malaita province are currently undergoing major renovation work.
So far work is now in its first phase according to the Director of Kilu’ufi hospital Dr Huddie Namo.
“Work is currently underway and is going on smoothly,” he said.
He explained this is part of improving the health infrastructure and building conditions.
“Some of these houses are built in the 1950s and has not been repaired and maintained since then.
“Staffs are experiencing problems with leaking roofs and sewage system. So as part of improving the building conditions we decided to do repair and maintenance work.”
Four houses are nearing their completion and hopefully will be completed in a month’s time adding other houses are now into their second week of renovation.
Dr Namo said by having good homes it would also help boost the morale of the nursing officers to work hard.
Apart from Kilu’ufi, other clinics and health centres around the province are also undergoing renovation
