EFFICIENT water supply has successfully been restored at Kilufi hospital after weeks of water shortages.
This was after both the hospital and its residence operating and running on water shortage the past three weeks, leading to questions raised over the management’s lack of proactively addressing the issue.
However Director of Malaita provincial health services, Dr Huddie Namo yesterday confirmed that water at the hospital and residential areas has been fully restored.
Dr Namo said that throughout the past three weeks, the hospital had used its capacity in making sure that staff houses water tanks were regularly filled.
“All hospital staff has water tanks and for the past two to three weeks we have used trucks to get water from Gwailiki water source and then fill up residents water tanks.”
Dr Namo also added that as of last week they have hired a standby generator from a resident in Auki to counter the problem till the permanent generator of the hospital is fixed.
“Since last week, we have hired and used a generator to help with the problem.
“This will help solve the water problem for the next two to three weeks until the spare parts of our permanent generator is sent over and fixed,” he said.
Dr Namo added that the hospital and residential areas should now be having and experiencing sufficient and regular water supply than when they first encountered the problem.
