KILU’UFI Hospital in Malaita Province conducted 30 COVID-19 swab tests today, the biggest swab test carried out by the hospital since COVID-19 community outbreak in the Malaita Outer Islands.
Malaita Provincial Health Director Dr Rex Maukera confirmed this to Solomon Star Auki this afternoon (Friday 28 January 2022) in an interview.
Dr Maukera said this latest figure brings the number of total swab tests collected from Auki to 41 since the outbreak.
Dr Maukera said since Klulu’ufi Hospital laboratory is not ready to further verify the swab tests, samples collected today will be sent to Honiara for further verification.
He said of the 30 who got tested today, some of them went for voluntary tests for fear that they might have contracted the COVID-19 virus, while others are those who came into contact with those seven COVID-19 positive cases.
The number of COVID-19 positive cases in Auki remains at seven.
Dr Maukera said those 30 who got tested today are also from Auki Township.
