King Star now has a legal shipping license to operate shipping services to Malaita Province.
The passenger vessel was given the green light last week to operate to and from Malaita after the Malaita provincial government granted its shipping license application.
This was confirmed by the Malaita provincial government finance minister Joe Heroau.
Mr. Heroau said last month the provincial government has denied King Star its application for a shipping license.
However due to the high demand for shipping service in the province, the provincial government has decided to approve its shipping license application.
He said with the approval the vessel was now able to operate to and from Malaita.
However the finance minister said King Star will still be paying compensation to the province for the times that the passenger vessel operated without any license.
He said the King Star management has already agreed to comply.
