THE case of the owner of Samlimsam Logging Company and three local men who allegedly involved the brutal knife attack on a man at the Kingsley Food Bar last year will return to court on February 6.
This is to allow prosecution and the defence to finalise outstanding issues in that matter before a committal hearing is conducted.
Four of the accused appeared in the Honiara Magistrates’ court yesterday where their bails were further extended till the next court hearing.
The Malaysian man, Pau Kiu Den, and the three locals Ben Alami, Buddley Fakani and Frank Fakani are facing one count each of attempted murder.
According to police, Pau conspired with the three locals to attack Tepai while he was having his breakfast at Kingsley with another Asian and a local.
Tepai flew in from his village into Honiara, arriving at around 10am and made his way from the airport to the Kingsley when he was attacked.
The trio then allegedly escaped into a waiting car.
Tepai nearly lost his left hand when accused Alami allegedly came from behind and hacked him with a 60 centimetre-long knife.
Doctors were however, able to save his hand and life.
Rano of Rano & Company Law firm is representing Den, while another private lawyer Hubert Fugui represents Alami.
Buddley and Frank are represented by the Public Solicitor’s Office.
