Paramartyre defeats Auki boys in nail beating match
Solomon Islands futsal club, the Paramartyr Kingz FC has won their opening match of the Vanuatu Futsal Shefa tournament defeating Solomon’s second futsal club in the competition Auki Eels FC on Saturday.
The opening goal came from Charlie Kalola six minutes from kick off with the second in the twelfth minute followed by the third by Albert Wetney who hammered a perfect shot to make it 3-1 after the Eels slot in their first in the 15th minute of the first stanza.
Well versed with Kingz tactics and strength from their recent friendly match back in Auki, the Eels came in stronger in the opening minutes of the second half and mounted pressure on Kingz paid off in the 31st minute as they move a goal closer to equalizing.
However the Eels could not keep the pressure too long as Kingz hit back to extend the lead to 4-2 before Eels scored their final goal five minutes before full time to make it 4-3 to Kingz.
Coach and team leader, Thomas Kalola said this was an impressive start for the team as it eyes to finish top of this competition.
“They played well, impressive start I would say.
“We would like to thank Eels for that great performance against us, it will really help us in our coming matches,” he said.
Paramartyr Kingz next match will be against host Shefa 1 today.
For Paramartyr Kingz, this is in preparations for their participation for the Craig Foster Futsal Challenge which will be held in Cold Coast, Australia next year while it is mainly exposure for the boys from the Auki Township.
