Three Kirakira police officers along with the Makira Ulawa Election Manager Gilbert Tabihau have kicked off a week-long tour around the province.
The tour is to investigate reports of land disputes, damage of properties and swearing following the national general election.
The team left Kirakira on Saturday and travelled east to travel round the province.
They are expected back at Kirakira early next week.
Deputy Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Peter Sitai said the aim of the tour is to assess the threat situation on the ground after declaration of election results.
“Due to reports we have received about land disputes, damage of properties and swearing, police is now investigating the reports.”
He said this is part of police working together with the local communities.
“Police is appealing to all community leaders in the province to work closely with police to address those issues.”
