PEOPLE in Honiara will continue to experience no water or low pressure to certain areas because Solomon Water is still turning off its gravity systems and pumps at Kongulai and Kombito springs.
In a statement today (10th December 2021), Solomon Water said turbidity levels at Kongulai and Kombito springs have reduced but are still at unsafe levels for them to turn on their gravity systems and pumps.
“This is due to illegal activities in the upper catchment areas causing sediment to be washed into the water source,” Solomon Water said.
Therefore, the statement said customers living in and around West Honiara, Central Honiara and East Honiara will be affected with no water or low pressure.
It urged customers still receiving water to ensure they store water for use in buckets and containers and boil all water for food preparation and consumption.
“We are constantly monitoring the situation and will regularly update customers throughout the day,” the statement said.
