The newly elected North Malaita football association (NMFA) president is calling on all active football associations under Malaita football association (MFA) to vote for a new president.
Moffat Joel Konofilia made the call after NMFA remove Eddie Omokirio as its president and voted Konofilia as the new president representing NMFA.
Konofilia told Star Sports in Auki that Omokirio is no longer the NMFA president, which means he is not eligible to hold the position as the MFA president.
He said Malaita province is a football powerhouse in the country and the body that looks after footballing affairs of this province should be active, innovative, transparent and influential.
“It will be great if the Malaita football association can quickly decide on a new president, and new executive to represent this football powerhouse in the country since Omokirio is no longer in power.”
“I also want to see MFA elect a new president and executive before the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) elect a new executive so that we can have a MFA rep in the SIFF new executive,” he added.
Konofilia takes up the presidency post as the new NMFA president last Sunday after he was elected during an extra-ordinary Meeting held in Malu’u over the weekend.
