A LARGE team of technical experts from Kwater Corporation and Hyundai Engineering (HEC) is now in the country to progress engineering planning for the Tina Hydro Project.
Kwater and HEC are the developers selected by Solomon Islands Government from an international tender process held in 2015.
A statement from the Tina Hydro Office in Honiara said the team will be involved in analysing the network and current powerhouse of Solomon Power as well as other engineering details of the Tina Hydro Project.
“The team has made a technical visit to the water resources and seismology division of Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification (MMERE),” the statement said.
“It also made a courtesy visit to Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification to meet Permanent Secretary Jeffrey Sade Deve,” the statement added.
“PS Deve welcomed their visit to the ministry, noting the importance of their participation in the project.”
Mr Deve said Kwater and Hyundai Engineering have excellent international reputation, and this has been a critical factor in securing large scale concessional finance for the Tina Project.
HEC Deputy Chief Engineer and team leader of the delegation Jung Beomgi said they look forward to working together with the Solomon Islands Government to realise this milestone project.
