KOSSA FC joins Malaita Kingz FC and Solomon Warriors FC to register the first wins of the seventh Telekom S-league title following their win at the Lawson Tama Stadium, Sunday.
KOSSA defeated a strong FC Guadalcanal side 3-0 in their opening match of the seventh Telekom S-league season.
Obed Ofea, James Naka and George Suri scored a goal each for the ‘men in yellow’ to secure the first three points.
KOSSA head coach, Eddie Marahare was pleased with the win and stressed they treat each game as the final.
“I’m happy with the win, especially the first three points from the opening match is a positive.
“The win today will motivate my players to look forward for the next game.
“The message to our boys is that every game is treated as the final,” he said.
Guadalcanal FC did put on a tough performance against KOSSA.
If they had converted their chances into goals the outcome of yesterday’s match would have been different.
They have some goal scoring chances in the opening minutes of the game however just could not finish off properly to find the back of the net.
Former KOSSA striker, Harrison Mala made some dangerous runs upfront but was unfortunate to continue pressurizing the KOSSA defense after he was replaced just five minutes into the first half from injury.
KOSSA now sits on second place in the standings with three points and a goal difference of three points.
Solomon Warriors currently leads with three points and a goal difference of four points.
Sitting on third is Malaita Kingz FC also with three points but with a goal difference of two.
Matches will continue this weekend.
