The selection to name the final squad for the Solomon Islands national futsal team will be made this week.
This was confirmed by the head coach of the Solomon Islands national futsal team, Juliano Schmeling on Wednesday.
Schmeling revealed they will name 14 players who will travel for the World Cup.
“We will select 14 players who will be travelling to Colombia this week.
“Since we have two of our players already abroad, we’ll be selecting only 12 players from here.
Kurukuru has two of its players, Elliot Ragomo and George Stevenson currently playing in Brazil, the team will meet up with the duo on their Brazilan tour, which is their final tour before the World Cup kicks off in September.
When questioned about their aim in the World Cup, Schmeling said it is about playing three good pool games.
“We are prepared to play three good games
“We are pooled along with two teams Argentina and Kazakhstan that are in the top ten in the world and Costa Rico who is in the top 20, so we are aware of the challenge we are facing.
“Together as a team we can make things happen,” he said.
Coach Schmeling said the team has had a good preparation since March this year.
He said the recent Australian camp, the upcoming Australian and the Brazilian tour will be very helpful to their final preparations.
On their way to Colombia the host country for the FIFA Futsal World Cup, Kurukuru will play two friendly matches against the Australian national futsal team, Futsalroos as part of their final preparations.
From Australia, Kurukuru will then head for their Brazilian tour where they will play a few more friendly matches before heading to Colombia.
