The newly appointed head coach for the Solomon Islands national futsal team, Jerry Sam will reveal the names of the final Kurukuru squad this week.
Sam told Star Sports that he will reveal the names of 12 players who will be travelling to Turkmenistan for the Asian Indoor Games.
Currently there are 20 players, both new and old are undergoing training however only 12 players will travel for the Games.
“Only 12 players will travel.
“The final list will be revealed this week.
Sam said Elliot Ragomo and James Egeta are also on the list however their chances of becoming part of the team will depend on their confirmation.
Elliot Ragomo is currently in Brazil playing for a professional futsal club while Egeta is studying in Australia.
Sam added if there is no confirmation for these two players, he will have to replace them.
“If they are not confirmed to be part of the team, then we will make replacements.
“It is also high time to focus for 2019 World Cup Qualifiers.
“This means we must involve young players to get experience and exposure
“Because countries in the Oceania are looking forward for 2019 World Cup Qualifiers and we don’t want to give them any chances,” he said.
Sam clarified despite not having the duo, Egeta and Elliot for this trip, they are still part of the Kurukuru squad.
After the announcement of the final squad, Kurukuru will play their first friendly match against the national U17 futsal squad.
Another friendly match is proposed for Hong Kong on their way to Turkmenistan.
This will be confirmed by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF).
The team will depart on September 4.
