The Kurukuru futsal team has won their second match against the strong Chinese Taipei last night, 4-3.
The match kicked off at around 11pm last night in Turkmenistan where the current 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games is currently underway.
It was Kurukuru’s second match.
And the victory has brought much excitement and pride to Team Solomons and the Oceania contingent here.
Two goals from George Stevenson and a brace from Alwin Hou and Atana Fa’arodo was enough for Jerry Sam and the boys to claim victory.
The coach could not hide his gratitude after the final whistle as he expressed his deep satisfaction and excitement.
He said despite the score margin was very narrow, picking up three pionts was the most important thing for the team to stay focus in the competition.
He said they are now eyeing for the next match to at least get maximum points to book their sport for the second stage of the competition.
Kurukuru will take on host city Turkmenistan in their third match set down for today.
Sam also thanked the Oceania countries who supported the Kurukurus during their match yesterday.
Meanwhile many local Kurukuru supporters last night congratulated the boys for their outstanding performance.
Many fans have been following the match closely via the social media and live streaming.
They said, the boys have done the country proud and wish the team all the best in their next match.
Kurukuru beat Hong Kong 4-1 in their first match on Saturday.
