Dear Editor – Having this great moment in expressing my thoughts on the above subject is an opportunity and my appreciations.
It has been aware that a lot of government ministries provide insufficient information to students doing researches.
Government ministries are not posting most information online.
Our citizens, especially students, were undertaking studies overseas perhaps in the country while others are operating business they also need external information.
As a student, I had conducted few researches in Solomon Islands.
I visited few government ministries to collect information, somehow they only gave me their websites.
Then I visit that web addresses, but there are no signs of updated information.
Likewise, it seems they have no webmasters either to make updates on those specific sites.
These for sure brought hindrances to me as a Solomon Islands student. After all, I have all the right to access any information that suits my study in my country.
It brought to me doubts and confusions as to why I ask myself few questions.
Do Solomon Islands have information that I, perhaps other student’s needs?
Did anyone ever carry out a survey or conduct a research?
In that case, for instance, www.met.gov.sb perhaps others, there was nothing appeared updated.
Therefore, it’s just awkward to see government ministries having such site. Apologize for the language used.
On the same note, there were many government ministries providing poor information.
It comes to my notice that I think establishing such websites is or providing quick information quite expensive demanding somehow to the government ministries.
But the point to share is that; is there any alternative by which government ministries could uphold to upgrade the information provision level as they are for the public?
I urge either the government ministries or the central government to seriously consider this.
Responsible people must be considerate as the population was dramatically increasing nowadays and the quality of education levels had improved.
Therefore, let us work together to build an innovative, creative, and accessible resourceful Solomon Islands.
