ANOTHER breakthrough for our local female referee with the announcement of Nagarita Jimmy as one of the referees in the region who will be officiating in the upcoming Ocean Confederation Under-20 soccer championship next month.
She will be part of the tournament as an assistant referee, according to a statement by Oceania Confederation yesterday.
She was amongst a number of female referees who were appointed by OFC to officiate during the five days tournament.
Yesterday the OFC made announcement for the match officials.
The forthcoming OFC U-20 Women’s Championship is scheduled for 18-22 February, 2014, at Centre Park, Mangere, in Auckland, New Zealand.
In a statement OFC said a quintet of female referees will be led by Fiji’s Finau Vulivuli, New Zealand’s Anna-Marie Keighley, American Samoa’s Uinifareti Aliva, Tupou Patia of the Cook Islands and Robinson Banga from Vanuatu.
Six Assistant Referees comprising Lonisa Dilioni of Fiji, Nagarita Jimmy of the Solomon Islands, Lata Kaumatule from Tonga, New Zealand’s Jacqui Stephenson, Maria Salamasina of Samoa and Papua New Guinea’s Wanting Yagum will complete the contingent.
The OFC has named former FIFA World Cup Match Official Lencie Fred and Fiji’s Paresh Kishore as Referee Assessors.
