Port Moresby (The National) – FOURTEEN men’s and seven women’s teams will take part in the Momase leg of the Papua New Guinea Football Association Besta tournament, hosts Lae Football Association confirmed.
The games, which will kick off this week, will be played at the LFA Grounds and the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
The teams confirmed by the local organising committee are Madang FA, Lahi, Wewak, Lae FA, Ramu Sugar, Wau, Watut, Walium, Boana, Rungken, Bufa, Morobe South, Wampar and Situm FA.
The Wewak team is travelling via Airlines PNG to Nadzab, and will be staying at Okari Campus, said Elizabeth Lalo, who is organising accommodation. Madang, including its districts, Wau, Bulolo and their district associations in Morobe travelled into Lae yesterday evening.
Competition match commissioner Alex Toky said presidents or managers participating had to be in Lae by today and attend a technical meeting at 4pm to sort out the schedule of matches.
“We cannot do the games draws without seeing the teams, therefore all managers or presidents are to attend a technical meeting at St Mary’s Primary School at Eriku for games officials to confirm and make the draws,” Toky said.
Organising committee chairman Roy Kamen confirmed preparations were in place to welcome the travelling teams.
The competition starts today and ends on Saturday, Aug 15.
