PRESIDENT of the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) William Lai has congratulated the senior national football team for their fine performance over the mighty All Whites.
Lai made the comment following the 2-2 draw against the professional side in their return match at the Lawson Tama stadium in front of jam packed home fans.
“While we are disappointed about our boys’ performance in their away match, I am very proud of their return match performance.”
The local side went down to professional All Whites 6-1 last Friday in their first leg but recorded a 2-2 impressive draw in the second leg.
“I think our boys did a fantastic job for Solomon Islands today (yesterday) therefore on behalf of my executive I would like to acknowledge their fine performance.”
He said the local boys dominated the match with a handful of scoring opportunities unfortunately their chances were not converted.
“To me our team is a best team today (yesterday).
“If their chances were converted the result could have been different.
“But that’s football,’’ he said.
He therefore thanked the head coach Filipe Vega-Arango and his coaching staff for their hard work and commitment which now paid off.
