The Honiara Football Association (HFA) executive had successfully convened an Annual General meeting of its club on March 6, 2014 at the SIFF Academy conference room.
In his address to the HFA congress, the President William Lai spoke highly of the commitment of his executive to meet the high expectation from the Honiara football clubs to ensure that football comes back to live in the National Capital City after more than two years of no organised football league competitions by the previous administrators.
“My executive is committed to ensuring that we deliver what we are mandated to do over our four years in office.
“I must admit that it is not an easy task, however, because of the passion and pride we have for football in Solomon Islands and the unwavering support from all football stakeholders in Honiara that has kept us going for the first year.”
Lai also thanked the support rendered to his executive by many stakeholders who would love to see football come alive again in Honiara.
“My Executive would not have come this far without this spirit of partnership and working together that we have had with all football stakeholders in Honiara ranging from the government , schools, clubs, business houses, supporters, communities and SIFF.”
In his concluding remarks the President highlighted the successes and challenges faced by his executive.
One of the challenges he highlighted was the lack of enough quality playing grounds to host HFA league games.
“We wish to include School league, women league and youth league apart from the normal HFA league, however our greatest challenge is to have access to enough grounds that can host such leagues during the year, “ Mr Lai.
He concluded by calling on all the supporters to assist his executive to help organised another league for the Honiara public for 2014.
