A minor mishap involving Landing Craft (LC) Fair King caused significant damage to a newly renovated PT109 seafront building in Gizo, Western Province, just days before its scheduled reopening.
The incident occurred around 6pm on Tuesday evening, 24th December when the landing craft, owned by Marovo Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Chacha Bule Amoi, misjudged its approach to the landing site and collided with the structure.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the side of the boat struck the building, narrowly avoiding what could have been more severe damage if the vessel’s ramp had made contact.
“It was not a good day, especially for the owner of the famous PT109 Club,” one witness told the Solomon Star.
“But I hope both parties have settled their differences.”
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
The PT109 Club, a popular venue in Gizo, was preparing to unveil its revamped seafront building on Tuesday night.
This accident has left its management dealing with an unexpected setback.
The extent of the damage and any resulting delays to the reopening of the extended building.
