Dear Editor – A Friend of mine who attended the shell money festival in the Langalanga Lagoon over the weekend commented that while it was interesting it was not well organised.
If it had not been for a private party chartering a boat there would have been no real tourists there apart from the official party.
There was no food or drinks available [apart from the Solbrew the delegates started drinking at 10am].
The lady who provided the accommodation did a good job. She did mention she has had no support from SIG in any form.
The final comment was “I prefer coconut trees and sand beaches to mangroves and mud, not going back there”.
So much for tourism on Malaita?
On another matter.
Is the Minister for Mines and Energy in a position to make a well-founded comment on the Gold Ridge situation?
Has he been fully briefed on the situation and has he read all reliant documents relating to the matter including any signed agreements?
