THE body of former Guadalcanal Provincial Premier, Chief and Leader Late Stephen Panga will spend a couple of days and nights at his village residence before his final burial on Thursday afternoon.
This is to allow time for his immediate family members, relatives, friends, work colleagues and government leaders to pay their final respect to the leader.
Late Panga was called to rest last weekend and since then, his body was placed at the morgue.
Yesterday, his body was finally transported to his village residence at Matanga, Metapona Downstream, Guadalcanal Plains.
A statement issued by the immediate family members yesterday informed all families and relatives, National and Provincial Leaders, work colleagues, friends of the Late Stephen Panga of the program for the remembrance, funeral service and burial of the Late Stephen Panga.
The body of the Late Panga was transported from the National Referral Hospital (NRH) morgue to his village residence at Matanga, Metapona Downstream yesterday Tuesday 9 January at around 12:00pm.
The body arrived at Matanga Village around 2pm yesterday where immediate family members, relatives and friends received the body and paid their respect.
The family of the Late Panga also issued an open invitation to all leaders at all levels, work colleagues and friends of the Late Panga who may wish to pay their final respect and share condolences with his wife, children and family and relatives to visit them today – Wednesday 10th January (am and pm) and Thursday 11th January (am).
“These days are set aside especially for you.
“The funeral service will be on Thursday 11th January at 1:00pm to be followed by the burial ceremony around 3pm,” the statement said.
The family has acknowledged and thanked family and friends who shared their condolences with the family.
The former premier of Guadalcanal died last weekend. Circumstances surrounding his death could not be disclosed.
He held the premier’s post in 2013 and was a well-respected traditional leader in his region over the past years.
Late Panga served as the Chairman of the Land Board until his passing.
