The Solomon Islands international player Robert Laua missed out in Hekari United final line up for the PNG champions club in the upcoming 2020 OFC Champions League.
Hekari United confirmed that Laua missed out in their final squad that will represent the country in the most coveted competition set to kick off this month in PNG.
“Solomon Islands International and Hekari United defender Robert Laua will not play in the champions league due to quota restrictions by OFC on import players,’’ a statement from the club reads.
“The four import players that will take part are Erick Joe, Vinicius Reis Kryzozun, Junior David and Vito Laloata,’’ the statement added.
Joe and Kryzozun are Brazilians while Lalota is a Samoan player and David is a Solomon Islander.
The decision to omit Laua was a tough decision the club management has came up with, however Laua has confirmed that he accepted the decision.
Star Sports understands Hekari United was drawn in Group A of the OFC Champions League alongside Hienghene Sport of New Caledonia, Eastern Suburbs of New Zealand and Galaxy FC of Vanuatu.
Meanwhile, Group A matches will be played in Papua New Guinea between February 16-22, 2020.
