LAUGU FC moved up to the second spot of the Telekom S-league (TSL) with 16 points, two points behind current leaders, Henderson Eels FC.
This follows their fifth win of the season which saw them stunned the defending champions Solomon Warriors FC with a 2-0 win at the Lawson Tama yesterday.
Former Warriors frontman, Gagame Feni and Jeffery Bule scored a goal each to cause one of the big upsets of this TSL season.
After missing clear scoring chances, Feni and Bule worked hard to cover up for their missed opportunities.
After missing a penalty kick, Gagame came back with the opening goal in the 55th minute to give Laugu the lead.
Bule extended the lead in the 62nd minute, finishing off Augustine Samani’s free-kick with a header.
Warriors dropped by one spot to third place with 13 points.
Yesterday’s opening match saw debutants Central Coast FC and Honiara City drew nil-all.
Coast remains at the fourth spot with 12 points and City in sixth place with 10 points.
Matches today will feature Marist FC and FC Isabel United at 2 pm and KOSSA FC will take on Henderson Eels at 4 pm.
