MEMBERS of the Lauru basketball team for both men and women which represented Team Lauru had acknowledged the support rendered by Team Lauru management, officials and its people.
Team Lauru ladies team has done the province proud by snatching silver medal in the finals.
While the men’s team led by captain Albert Kaitu’u was knocked out in the pool stages.
Both teams had a lot of supporters during the games.
Lauru basketball teams were represented by a Honiara-based team.And they were proud to represent Lauru.
At the officially closing of the games both teams have acknowledged the support from the Lauru people.
Some of the players said, they really appreciated the help from the province that have been rendered to them through morale support, food and allowances.
“Despite the challenges being faced throughout the Games we were rendered with so much support and help from the Team Lauru management.”
The teams yesterday also got a surprise brief visit by two officials from Team Lauru just before they broke camp.
Both the officials in a brief presentation expressed Team Lauru’s acknowledgment and appreciation to the players for their effort through a cash donation.
One of the spokesperson for the officials said, “this donation is a token of our appreciation to you all for representing the province and making us proud during the games.”
Team management for both men and women’s team in response thanked the officials adding, it was a surprise and kind gesture from Team Lauru and they really appreciated their overall help.
“We really appreciate Team Lauru officials for taking good care of us and acknowledging us.”
The players also acknowledged coaching staff and management.
As part of concluding their achievements, both teams went on a picnic yesterday at Lela beach to acknowledge their effort before separating.
