THE Lauru Kuvojo football team has accepted their 4-0 defeat to defending champions of the Solomon Cup Malaita Eagles in the second semifinal of the competition held in front of a jam packed Lawson Tama stadium, Wednesday.
Head coach Eddie Rukumana told local media after their bitter loss they were psychologically affected.
“I’d like to thank my boys though we did not make it to the grand final,’’ he said.
He said they accepted the defeat knowing the defending champions were prepared well to take on his boys yesterday.
“There are lots of aspects involved and psychologically we were affected too,’’ he said.
“And so I accepted my boys defeat because they were very new to the atmosphere here.’’
Rukumana said now that their hope of reaching the final was over they will reground and aim high to win the losers final against their neighbors Western Turtles on Friday.
“We will give a go to at least put some mark especially in the third place of the competition,’’ he said.
Meanwhile Rukumana said his team is a development squad adding they will work hard in next year’s Solomon Games.
He was also proud of his team’s achievement to reach this far.
