UP to 150 government-funded law students studying at the University of the South Pacific (USP), Emalus campus, in Vanuatu, have vacated their halls of residence for safety.
A student Junior Mae’akofia said they were evacuated from their halls of residence and moved into classrooms, court moot and the gym at the campus.
He said they are experiencing strong winds and heavy rain yesterday as Tropical Cyclone Pam hit Vanuatu.
“Before the cyclone hits here, we were told to prepare in advance,” he said.
“We moved in here because these are the only safe venues.
“The campus (school) is now closed,” Mr Mae’akofia said.
He revealed that all students are advised by the school management to remain at home till further notice.
