UNDER-SECRETARY of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MID), Jimmy Nuake says that Honiara City Council (HCC) will soon come up with by-laws for bus service providers in town.
Mr Nuake was responding to complaints raise by public why the buses still running the short bus route while traffic is slowly improving now.
“What we have discussed was HCC will soon come up with by laws for buses to pay licence according to destinations,” Mr Nuake said.
He explained it is now with HCC to regulate those laws if any bus wants to run from Central Market to Kukum SDA, and then it will pay licence for that destination and will not go any other destination more.
Mr Nuake said that HCC and police too should come up with sign board to put on those bus stops so people will not get confused.
“We have received calls from people that, they were confusing with those three bus stops. But according what I know, the first one on the west wing of central market should be for King George Sixth and the other one is for Naha/Kola and the other one maybe for Guadalcanal Plains.”
But again, HCC will come up with the law soon for bus providers to pay licence according to destination.
“If you pay licence for Naha then you have to go to Naha everyday and not to KGVI or SDA.”
Mr Nuake said that traffic is starting to improving therefore they must impose some strict rules on service providers.
