The Police Officer accused of causing the death of a young woman when he accidently drove on the wrong lane at West Guadalcanal road in 2011, did not take his plea on Thursday.
Rex U’upwe’s lawyer did not turn up in court and Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Kouhota, therefore adjourned his matter to January 12.
Chris Rarumae should have taken instructions from his client after the last court appearance for his plea.
U’upwe faces one count of causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. This was in relation to an incident on March 2, 2011 at West Honiara.
U’upwe was said to be driving on the wrong lane going down west bound and hit an on-coming vehicle.
The vehicle was carrying passengers in the back.
The deceased was flown out of the vehicle when the driver of the pick-up truck swerved the vehicle to the side of the road.
State Prosecutor Willie Vaiyu is representing the Crown on Thursday.
