A LAWYER, who is representing a woman facing charges related to stealing, is negotiating with the prosecution to drop one of her client’s charges.
Cathy Kerea of Gela, Central Province faces one count of simple larceny and another of larceny from a person.
Her lawyer negotiates with the prosecution to have the simple larceny charge withdrawn and also to reduce the amount of money her client allegedly stole in relation to the second charge against her.
Prosecution is yet to respond to that representation.
It was heard in court that in the event the prosecution maintains the two charges, a pre-trial conference will be conducted on August 10.
The simple larceny charge was in relation to the allegation on 3 September 2014, in which the accused stole a bag containing personal items including a cash of $360, an ID card, bunch of keys, and a mobile phone from her male companion.
Prosecution alleged the accused steal from his male companion on different occasions when they hang out.
Jenny Namo of Public Solicitor’s Office is representing Cathy while Police Prosecutor Wilfred Sura’au represents the State.
