THE PRESIDENT of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Sir Thomas Chan has urged national leaders to stop arguing amongst them but settle issues and move the country forward.
Sir Thomas made the call following heated debates over the media among national elected leaders, civil society and even the public over the recent $3 million controversial payment government made to ex-MEF combatants.
“I am really disappointed about these kinds of arguments between our elected politicians,” he said.
“It’s about time to settle down and move forward. There’s no time to point fingers and barking at each other,” he said.
Sir Thomas reminded national leaders to bear in mind that they are dealing with national issues, which will certainly affect the lives of ordinary citizens.
He reminded the leaders that law and order is a prerequisite to a lasting peace.
He said it is important to settle down without the need to argue over sensitive issues and move this country forward.
He added that this nation needs to grow mature in love and respect for one another in order to save the present and future generations.
