CHAIRMAN of Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) board, Nollen Leni has defended his re-appointment.
This came after insider sources claimed newly appointed Minister for Infrastructure Development, Jimmy Lusibaea plans to appoint new board members due to some allegation leveled against Leni.
The former SIPA board under the leadership of Mr Leni had finished their term early this year.
However, Mr Leni said a new board has been appointed by the Minister and is pending to be gazetted.
He said the new Board members have already received their letter of appointments in September 2015.
“I have also received my reappointment letter as chairman of the new Board,” he said.
However, Mr Leni said the Attorney General’s Office has given advice for the revocation of the newly appointed board members and replace them with totally new people.
“I do not know how legal that approach would have been against the provisions of Part II of the State Owned Enterprises Act.
“ If the provisions of a law can be tampered by any individual wish, so be it,” he said.
