The former national midfielder now turned coach says this Solomon Games football competition is the best platform to scout for potential players to form national squads in all age categories.
Joel Konofilia said it is the best time to earmark players so that national teams can be inclusive and fairly represented.
Konofilia said this Solomon Games has demonstrated the beauty of football where various skin colour compositions making up the Solomon Islands, all join to participate in the beautiful game of football.
“I strongly believe that if all our national soccer team categories are inclusive and fairly represented, soccer will excel.
“I do not want to condemn our current status of football which is mostly dominated by Malaitains, but we have to be inclusive.
“Thank you Malaitains, big appreciation for your contributions in soccer. The
Biggest challenge now is for the other provinces to rise to the level which is seen in the current soccer competition.
“We hardly make it to the finals in big games nowadays; therefore we want all provincial talents to merge with the existing Malaita talents in order for football to reach new heights.”
