Iroga says our task is to prepare for pacific games
THE newly elected president of the Solomon Games Council, James Iroga has appealed to all athletes and coaches to prepare for the 2023 Pacific Games which will be hosted by Solomon Islands.
Mr Iroga was speaking during the official dinner hosted at Honiara Hotel to mark the official closing of this year’s Solomon Games.
“As you go back to your respective provinces please bear in mind that we have a great task to do, and that is to prepare our country for the 2023 Pacific Games,” Mr Iroga said.
“It is now in our hands team coaches to prepare our athletes for that very important event.
“The hosting of these Solomon Games is to prepare our teams for the 2023 Pacific Games,” he added.
He wants to see that all the coaches and everyone must work together to prepare the country for that important event.
Iroga who is also a former athlete said that as the newly elected president of the Solomon Games Council, he is happy with more young talents competing in the event.
“What we will do now is to build up from here and move on to a standard to compete with the pacific and even the world at large.
“Thank you everyone for your participation in this year’s Solomon Games but bear in mind that we have a great task to do and it is to prepare the country for the upcoming pacific games.”
Renbel will host the 2018 games before it returns to Honiara in 2020 to prepare for the 2023 Pacific Games.
