Solomon Islands need to return to God and it must begin with the leaders, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare says.
He was speaking during a thanksgiving service at Wesley United church to acknowledge the great of God and his wonderful works in our lives.
Prime Minister recalled that on the day of his election on December 9 he made a statement that Solomon Islands needs to return to God.
He said, that the statement should not be taken lightly because he meant it.
“That returning to God must begin with people in important places of responsibilities in this country, at all positions of leadership because there is no point asking our people and the nation to return to God when people in positions of responsibilities are walking the other way,” he said.
Mr Sogavare said, it would be hypocrisy and it is an abomination unto God not acknowledging him.
“Thanksgiving is something that is enjoined of us by God himself who appreciate acknowledgement of his love and grace by his creatures.
“We are here to acknowledge the greatness of God, the God whom we move and having our being,” he said.
Mr Sogavare said, it is important that they come to him all honestly, humility, truthfulness because he is all of that personified.
He said everyone has a huge responsibility on their shoulders to return ourselves and this country to God.
Attending the service are Governor General Sir Frank Kabui, Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer and lady Palmer, Speaker of Parliament, government ministers, diplomatic corps, public officers and the public.
