A local coconut oil producer, the Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands (KPSI) encourages local coconut farmers to promote and support the local coconut products in the country.
This was highlighted during last week’s trade expo at the Mataniko river side show ground.
June Fakari of Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands said coconut farmers in the country have high chances of promoting and make use of their local fruit by produce virgin oils for cooking, body oil, hair and natural health food.
“We should promote our local coconut by extracting virgin oil from through domestic process of manufacturing and marketing both domestically and internationally.”
Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands is one of the local manufacturers of local coconut in the country.
Last week the firm demonstrated local varieties of virgin coconut oil and soap that caught the attention of many show-goers.
Ms Fakari said if farmers got involved in coconut production in the country it will lower demand for international imports for oil and soap into the country.
“Making our own natural products will help limit our spending of something from overseas product which is made from chemicals,” Fakari said.
She said Solomon Islands coconut is rich of nutritious, healthy and aromatic and flavoursome.
“So lets promote our very own Solomon Islands coconut and enjoy its uses as part of improving organic oil in the country.”
