CARETAKER Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo has denied reports of his involvement in the removal of the Commissioner of Forest Reeves Moveni to become deputy secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office.
Instead, Mr Lilo said Mr Moveni was promoted just like any other public servants to take up his new post.
“Mr Moveni was promoted just like every other potential officer that had shown good and excellent work and prospect to perform better in other senior positions in the Public Service,”Mr Lilo said in a statement in his response to the story published in yesterday’s Solomon Star.
He denied having knowledge of any export permit or banking licence issues which was reported to be linked to Mr Moveni’s removal from his post three weeks ago.
“I am not aware of any export permit or banking licence issues. Which licence is that? Reeves is a highly intelligent and analytical officer who can serve well in other senior positions that require qualifications of his calibre.
“Self-servicing is news to me and a surprise because how can it be when it is a normal thing in public service to transfer/promote officers,” MrLilo added.
He questioned what is the link between Mr Moveni’s promotion and POB or Earthmovers.
“Please present the evidence or evidences. Show to me how I got involved in this issue,” MrLilo said
He claimed these allegations were made with the intention to tarnish his name during this crucial campaigning period.
“The allegations made against me regarding this issue are baseless and hold no truth whatsoever.
“The news article is defamatory in nature and there’s nothing to prevent me from pursuing further action should I wish to.”
