Special Coordinator of Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI), Justine Braithwaite says the limited re-introduction of lethal firearms into the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is among the major activities in the RAMSI PPF Drawdown Strategy for 2013 – 2017.
She said last week the Solomon Islands Government, the RSIPF and RAMSI signed the Drawdown Strategy last October.
Ms Braithwaite said the Australian-led RAMSI, and assisted by New Zealand and other Pacific island countries are fully committed to deliver these activities including the limited re-introduction of firearms in order to place the RSIPF in a position it can provide security to the Solomon Islands people.
