ONLY 10 spaces are available for men and women who wish to become national volleyball umpires.
President of the Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation (SIVF) Morris Maitaki confirmed this to Star Sports in a statement yesterday.
“A reminder to those that are interested to attend the volleyball course that there are only 10 spaces available,’’ Maitaki said.
“Therefore we once again call for those who are interested to register your names by this Friday 24th June 2016,’’ he said.
Those who wish to attend the course can contact the president on 7472316 for registration as well as to get more details about the course.
The AVC National Referee course will start on the 27th June until 1st July 2016.
Morris said an instructor by name of Ms. Catriona Tweedie from AVC comes from Australia will be here to conduct the 5-day national Referee course.
“This course will be a mix of presentations and on court practical sessions,’’ he said.
Morris further stressed the course participants will expect some theory presentation including the rule book, hand signals and the roles of the first referee and second referee.
“It will also cover the scoresheets and most importantly how to organise events and formulation of ground rules that are relevant to any tournament organise targeting grassroots, intermediate, schools and senior events.’’
“There session to discuss the referee commission’s roles and responsibilities,’’ he said.
Meanwhile the president said participants will also expect to sit a test at the end of the course. Registrations limited to the first 25 enrolments.
