LOCAL businessman and former board member of the Solomon Island Visitors Bureau (SIVB) Mockson Aaron is now the sole owner of MV Kosco.
Mr Aaron paid off MV Kosco with $5.5M from its previous owners.
Mr Aaron, who operates the Gizo Water Front Restaurant, said he decided to buy the boat because of the travelling demand in the Solomon Islands.
“I am the owner of the boat now, but the $5.5 million payment will be completed towards the end of the year.”
He said apart from inter-island travelling, this venture is a contribution to tourism.
“Many tourists prefer going to the Islands by boat.
“I am looking at facelifting the boat to cater for tourists’ travel.
MV Kosco provides shipping services to Auki and Gizo every weekend.
It was previously owned by Transol Shipping Limited.
