Hundreds of Solomon Islands first year students took part in University of the South Pacific(USP) weeklong orientation at Laucala campus on Monday in Fiji.
Solomon Islands sponsored students who have arrived early in Fiji on charter flights attended event along with other regional first year students.
The orientation week was designed to provide new students with essential information on study options, faculty and lectures.
Nason Nunufia a Solomon Islands government sponsored student who took part of the orientation programme shared his sentiment.
“The week-long programme help me to kick start my studies, as well as a taste of the rich campus experiences we will come across, during our time at the USP.
“Attending this orientation smooths my transition to university life and will play a critical role in my overall success,”Nunufia said.
According to statements on USP home page, “this year’s orientation will run from February 9 to 14, and it promises to be even bigger than before”.
This year’s orientation programme involve academic orientation by faculty, let’s talk by student association and campus guided tour.
Business houses such telecommunication, technology and banks also promote their products and services campus.
Major sponsors of the orientation programme are Vodafone, Bondwell, Telecom Fiji Limited, Bank South Pacific (BSP) and Digicel.
