More than 40 local teachers serving under the Seventh Day Adventist Education Authority are in Fiji ahead of a three day’s training in Fiji later this week.
The 2023 Trans Pacific Adventist Schools Trainers’ workshop will commence this Thursday for over three days until Sunday 29th January.
The training is hosted by the Trans Pacific Union Education Office based in Suva.
The theme for the workshop is: ‘I will go – Quest for Integrity’
It will be held at Fulton Adventist University College, Sabeto, Nadi.
Reports reaching the paper said, that a number of local teachers have traveled to Fiji last week ahead of the event.
Simeon Bouro a teacher from Burns Creek Primary school who is already in Fiji confirmed to the Solomon Star this morning that so far about 36 teachers are in Fiji.
Due to availability of flight they left for Fiji last Thursday. And since their arrival they travelled all the way to Suva and spend the weekend.
On Sabbath they spent a wonderful time worshiping with members of the PTEC Adventist Church.
The Church is located near the University of the South Pacific (USP) Laucala Campus.
Mr Bouro said, the remaining members of the delegation will travel to Nadi tomorrow – Tuesday 24th January before the start of the training this Thursday.
Mele Vaihola Education Director Trans Pacific Union explained, the workshop is important because the teachers will be trained on how to teach and maintain the Adventist education identity in their schools.
“You can be a trainer at your very own school to ensure our Adventist identity is sustained in such challenging time,” she said.
The last similar training was held in July 2018.
And teachers from countries under the TPU such as Kiribati, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga and Solomons were part of the training.
“Most of the local teachers are looking forward for the training,” Mr Bouro said.
